Installation view: Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier
Bärenland (Land of Bears), Videoinstallation, 41:02 mins, 2024 - 2026
Bärenland is a video essay in four chapters, unfolding across the seasons spring, summer, autumn and winter while tracing a narrative from the final jelly dessert eaten on the Titanic to the consumer promises of postwar Germany. Connecting historical jelly desserts with contemporary gummybears, the sticky sweets emerge as a multilayered metaphor of economic rise, nationalism and human depression.
Alongside the film installation contains four sculptures "Beere" (Berry), "Deutsche Kastanie" (German Chestnut), "Der Riesenschlumpf" (The Giant Smurf), and "Bundesbüdchen".
